Medterra was founded by Jay Hartenbach in 2017 with a mission to make high-quality CBD products available at a reasonable price. With a focus on transparency and consistency, Medterra is US Hemp Authority certified and grows its hemp under the guidance of the Kentucky Department of Agricultural Industrial Hemp Pilot Program. Known for its millennial appeal, Medterra CBD reviews reveal it is firmly positioned to be one of the leading CBD companies in the US for years to come.
We love the fact that Medterra has a concise product range that doesn’t stray too far from its core formulations. The most popular product is the CBD tincture, which is blended with MCT and contains 99% pure CBD.
Recently, Medterra introduced some broad-spectrum and full-spectrum tinctures and gummies options that include additional cannabinoids such as CBG, CBN, CBC, CBDV, and natural terpenes. We think these are great additions as Medterra customers can now benefit from the “entourage effect” experienced when multiple cannabinoids are present. Kat’s Naturals also offers some cannabinoid blends, if you’re interested.
Medterra has also introduced some focused CBD tinctures to help support energy and the immune system for example. We haven’t taken this tincture for long enough to know its effects on immunity — so we’ll report back in the Spring when we’re through flu season!
Medterra also offers gel caps and gummies which have the same formulation as the isolate CBD tinctures. The cannabinoid is suspended in MCT oil in the capsules and encapsulated for an easy-to-swallow option.
Medterra’s topicals are mainly targeted at the sports crowd with pain relief options in either a roll-on or cream form. We found these to be decent for post-workout recovery but prefer some other product lines instead.
Medterra continues to add new products to its lineup, including gummies and special nighttime formulations. We haven’t tried these yet, so we’ll update this review once we’ve had the chance.
Medterra’s products come in a range of concentrations that suit both beginners and more experienced CBD users. The isolate CBD oil is available in 500mg, 1000mg and 3000mg strengths whereas the broad-spectrum oil is available in 1000mg and 2000mg.
We’re not sure why there’s a difference between the two, to be honest; however, every oil comes in a 30mL bottle. We also like that the dropper in each bottle has measurement markers of .25, .5, .75 and 1 milliliter, making it easy to control serving size and dosing.
Regardless of the oil you choose, Medterra CBD oil is definitely very affordable compared to other brands. If we were to pick one bottle to go for it would be the 2000mg broad-spectrum oil because it works out at $0.05 per mg and you’re getting 67mg of CBD per mL. You’re also benefiting from the combination of cannabinoids that the isolate product doesn’t provide.
If gelcaps are your thing, the 30-count bottles come in either a 25mg or 50mg strength. This means the total CBD you’ll be getting is 750mg and 1,500mg respectively. The gummies are only available in 25mg doses per gummy. So, if you’re looking for something stronger, and don’t like dropping oil under your tongue, the 50mg gels caps are the best bet to get your CBD.
Because the original CBD products are 99% CBD isolate and MCT oil, they have a flavorless taste. However, these oils give a warming sensation, which is common with CBD isolate.
The newer Medterra broad-spectrum and full-spectrum oils come in a couple of different flavors including Strawberry Mint and Citrus as well as an unflavored option. The citrus flavor was delicious and definitely won over the strawberry mint in our opinion.
The gummy line features similar flavors, including strawberry, tropical, citrus, and elderberry.
Medterra’s pet oils come in chicken, beef, and unflavored varieties. The joint-support chews for pets are peanut butter flavored, which your furry friend is sure to love.
Source and extraction method
Medterra CBD reviews reveal their CBD is sourced from non-GMO hemp from their farm in Kentucky. Like many other CBD companies, Medterra chose Kentucky because of the long growing season and soil quality. Once ready for harvest, Medterra uses whole plant CO2 extraction to draw out the CBD from the hemp plant while filtering out unnatural substances. For peace of mind, every Medterra product is tested by a third-party lab for potency, purity, and consistency.
