Types of CBD Oil Capsules

You probably know CBD (cannabidiol) products come in the forms of oil, tinctures, edibles, and topicals. But, have you tried or even heard of CBD oil capsules? To get you even more familiar, we’re going to discuss the types of CBD oil capsules, too.

What are CBD oil capsules?

CBD oil capsules are different from other types of ingestible supplements, like tablets. CBD oil capsules usually use gelatin-like agents to create a soft-centered capsule. Meanwhile, tablets and pills are more compact because of the use of materials.

Depending on the brand and type, CBD oil capsules may contain a certain set of cannabinoids, terpenes, a carrier oil, and/or ingredients such as vitamins.

CBD oil capsule’s time of effect is slightly different for each individual. Also, because the mode of consumption is via ingestion, expect a longer timeframe to experience results.

Types of CBD oil capsules

Like regular CBD oils, CBD oil capsules are categorized under three main types, namely: Full-spectrum, Broad-spectrum, and Isolate

The type of CBD oil formulation governs the potential effects that CBD oil capsules can impart on your body.

Note: Whatever the formulation is, the main ingredient of CBD oil capsules is CBD.

1. Full-spectrum CBD oil capsule

Full-spectrum CBD contains small amounts of all cannabis’s cannabinoids and terpenes. There will be some level of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) present. However, if no delta 8 THC is present and the THC is less than the legal amount of 0.3% THC, you will not experience a high.

Full-spectrum formulas offer the “Entourage Effect.” This is when different components work together in your body in a more efficient and effective way.

2. Broad-spectrum CBD oil capsule

Broad-spectrum extracts contain no amount of THC but still contain small amounts of the other components of cannabis.

Broad-spectrum CBD oils still have the advantage of the “Entourage Effect” to a lesser extent. However, it’s less likely that THC content will be present, even at the level of 0.3%.

As the name suggests, CBD isolates are essentially pure CBD extracts. These extracts are usually only accompanied by a carrier oil.

Isolate CBD oil capsules a great option for those subject to drug testing. No THC content will be present. Plus, some users find that isolates simply work better for their bodies. For example, isolates are reportedly less likely to make users drowsy.

Differences between CBD oil and CBD oil capsules

Even if the differences between these two items may seem obvious, let’s discuss anyway just to cover our bases.

1. Taste

If you’ve had the opportunity of consuming CBD oil, you would know that CBD oils usually possess a strong, earthy taste. The taste can sometimes be too powerful for some people, especially since CBD oil is sometimes required to sit in the mouth for 30 seconds to a minute before swallowing.

In contrast, the CBD oil capsule allows you to ingest CBD with less chance of that earthy, hempy taste.

2. Absorption

CBD oil bypasses the processes involved with ingestion by dropping the CBD oil sublingually or beneath the tongue. This method allows CBD to directly get absorbed into the bloodstream.

CBD capsules will have to enter the stomach before being absorbed, which can take time. After absorption, CBD is processed through the liver which can reduce overall potency.

3. Convenience

While both CBD oil and capsules are convenient in usage, both differ in the range of use and portability.

CBD oil allows you the freedom to consume it in various methods — sublingually, in drinks or recipes, and so on. By comparison, CBD capsules can be taken at any time and might be easier to travel with.

Lastly, a pre-determined dosage of CBD in capsules gives peace of mind to consumers, even to the most novice of novices. It takes the guesswork out of dosing as well as lessens the chance of inconsistency.

CBD oil has a level of difficulty in dosage and consistency. However, seasoned consumers can better determine their dose for their desired effect.
